Many communities have long struggled with how to handle the extra vol= ume of Residents and Guests in their dining room on the last day of their monthly meal plan as Residents rush to use up any un-used meal credit= s. Whlie operators could simply restrict residents from using meal credi= ts for guests or limit them in some fashion, such restrictions tend to be hugely unpopular with Residents and are contrary to growing trends th= at offer greater flexibility and choice. So the question remains, how to manage the madness that Dining Services experiences on that last day = of the month?

Finding the Right Price

All communities struggle with their retail pricing when adopting an a-la-carte policy for the first time. Traditionally, communities have provided fixed meal plans where a- la-carte pricing does not even ent= er the equation, other than perhaps at the coffee shop or café fo= r a very limited menu.
